Moonah Body was founded by Alexandra Parr, a certified Pilates Instructor and Accredited Sports Dietitian.

The name connects the business to its roots in the Mornington Peninsula where the Moonah trees are native to. These trees represent a sense of grounding as well as a representation of how the strength of the tree’s foundations allow it to twist and turn while thriving and continuing to grow and hold strong.

Alex has been practising informal Pilates all throughout her sporting career in her teens and found formal classes during covid in 2020. There was no going back, after retiring from Water Polo competing at National League level, she didn’t know what movement now looked like for her until Pilates came along. It’s a lifestyle in all honesty and it keeps her thriving mentally and physically. Then she began playing golf in mid-2025 and was hooked. She’s just got a handicap as of May 2026 coming in at 25. Her goals are ambitious aiming for 10 by Feb 2027. Alex attributes her Pilates for the strong foundations in her golf postures, swing motion and power + control.

Having worked in professional sport at Richmond FC, Melbourne Rebels RU and SEM Phoenix NBL as a Sports Dietitian, she is keen to stay within the world of health and wellbeing. This time, working with everyday people wanting to be better, bringing her experience and knowledge from the professional environment. Pilates is another string to her bow that she can use to enhance individual’s health through mobility, stability, strength and endurance.

Offering private Pilates opens access to more people who may be interested or intrigued but feel intimidated in going to a studio, need foundational support or just want a more personalised practise.

Alex’s point of difference is herself. She is easy going but has high standards in offering the best session for her clients. You can expect more than a transactional class. Instead, think connection as she loves to get to know people, and think safe. It’s important for any of Alex’s clients to feel comfortable to ask for help, try a new movement pattern and not feel judged. We were all once there. Alex gets you to progress with correct form from whatever level you began with.
